ABVote® is a voter information platform that provides election information for every voting residence. It also creates the forms for citizens from each State to apply to register or request an absentee ballot.

The users may access the program via smart phones and/or computers. Both mobile app access and web voter access go to a single election administrator back-end management system.

In the generic version the election information is provided based on the user's address, and in the customized version the information can additionally be provided on the personalized information provided by the voter. In either version it provides:

• One click to input the user’s current location-- by GPS, LBS (location-based services), or IP address
• Locate an upcoming election or most recent past election
• Find polling place and opening hours
• View map and directions from residence to polling place
• View the election calendar and optionally set up election alerts
• View of the relevant sample ballot
• Background information about the candidates and ballot initiatives (one-click Google search), and
• Contact the user’s local and State election administrators.

It generates the forms for:

• Voter Registration Application
• Absentee Ballot Request
• Federal Post Card Application (FPCA) for Registration/Absentee Ballot Request for Uniformed and Overseas Voters (UOCAVA)
• Federal Write-in Absentee Ballot (FWAB) for UOCAVA Voters
• Full unvoted ballot delivery to UOCAVA Voters whose jurisdictions have contracted for UOCAVA electronic ballot delivery

It can notify the users of important election dates by push notices or email alerts.

The system can be customized to provide electronic delivery of ballots for UOCAVA or disabled voters, and can also be set to provide online registration.

Security is the most significant attribute of this platform. The system has passed penetration testing from two well-known U.S. test laboratories, follows the guidelines of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), scrubs the users’ personal data, and was developed with the experiences designing it for use in Nevada, Michigan, New Jersey, and Montana, as well as with the Federal Voter Assistance Program (FVAP). In addition, the smart phone mobile app was tested by City of Detroit under the terms of a grant from the Federal Voter Assistance Program.

We are also looking for your participation to enhance the platform. Civic and voting support groups are encouraged to provide feedback. Casual users are invited to forward this app or the web site link to friends. Election administrators are invited to peruse the information posted for their jurisdictions and to post their data at no charge; contact us to be given access to your jurisdiction’s specific service/support channel.
